Gulf Air's 4th 777 to add flights to Manila this May

Will fly 12 times per week starting next month

MANAMA - Bahraini flag-carrier Gulf Air has announced yesterday that it will add 2 more flights to Manila upon arrival of their fourth Boeing 777-300ER planes aircraft on operating lease from Jet Airways as part of the airline's re-fleeting and product-enhancement strategy.

The airlines 3rd triple seven was already complimenting service of the Airbus 340 out of its busiest route network in London, Bangkok, Manila and Kuala Lumpur.

Gulf Air CEO Bjorn Näf stated that the fourth, which arrives next month, will be used on additional flights to Manila as they hope to make a double daily flight at the end of the year.

"While many people are talking about the global economic turmoil, we are still very focused on the needs of our customers."

“The summer schedule means we can offer a wider range of frequencies and connecting flights to our most popular destinations," said Näf.

"We are continually monitoring the changing market demand and aligning our network proactively to ensure we take advantage of all opportunities."

“I remain confident that with this strategy, the strength of the Gulf Air brand and our innovative products we are well positioned to emerge as the carrier of choice” concluded Mr. Näf.

Gulf Air is expanding routes and frequencies, and has also just exercised options on a further eight B787s. However, first deliveries for the 787 are not expected until mid-2010.
