PAL 777 and 321 Delivery Flights Loaded with Relief Goods

13 November 2013

Philippine Airlines has agreed to ferry relief supplies from the United States and Europe to the Philippines free of charge on board its newest Boeing 777-300ER series planes (RP-C7772) and Airbus 321-200 planes (RP-C9907) slated for arrival in Manila starting Wednesday.

“We join the entire country at this critical time in wanting to see a quick and concerted effort to provide aid to the Visayas region,” PAL President and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said as San Miguel Corporation and its subsidiaries launched concerted effort to respond to typhoon Yolanda victims in the Visayas.

“We will do everything we can to assist in government’s efforts to respond to the needs of our countrymen,” says Ang.

The Airline earlier extended its charity work ferrying to Tacloban a rescue team from the Metro Manila Development Authority, about 70 doctors from the Department of Health, Red Cross personnel, several medical mission groups, troops from the Aviation Security Group (to augment airport security), crews from news organizations, as well as tons of relief goods, medicines, medical equipment and cadaver bags for free on its Bombardier Q400 planes.

The return trips of the eight special commercial flights carried stranded passengers with confirmed bookings for PAL Express and other airlines.

SEATTLE—The Philippine government thanked the Boeing Company for its generous of $250,000 and to the Boeing Employees Association, which has so far raised $460,000 (the donation period is still ongoing and will be closing on December 12) for the Typhoon Yolanda rehabilitation efforts.

In a ceremony held last Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Boeing facilities in Seattle, Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. thanked the company and its employees for their support.

Welcomed by Dan Schull, Boeing’s sales and marketing director for Asia Pacific, Paynor and other guests toured the Boeing factory and had lunch with Capt. Alfonso Rodriguez and other representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

A short program followed, featuring the blessing of the Boeing plane that, flying under Philippine Airlines flight PR 11 (RP-C7772), flew to the Philippines 3,000 pieces of tarps and rope donated by World Vision to help in the relief and rebuilding efforts in the areas hardest hit by typhoon Yolanda.

Paynor also thanked World Vision for its donation and relief work in the Philippines, and Philippine Airlines for ferrying the contributions totaling nine pallets of equipment (about a ton in weight).

Schull was joined by other Boeing officials, Jaime Macandog, lead account manager; Wilson Chow, communications oficer; and Wes Bare, executive VIP tour guide/visitor relations specialist.

National Director for World Vision Johnny Cruz and Philippine Airlines Manager, Kiel Martin A. Garcia, were also in attendance.
