Tacloban Airport suffered the wrath of typhoon Yolanda (international name HAIYAN) Friday as more than 120 people have been reported killed by the category 5 storm with wind speed at more than 335 km per hour near the centre.

Aviation officials disclose that an airplane can fly at 185 kilometers per hour wind while a 200 km wind can damage concrete structures and obliterate wooden-based structures to pieces which happen to Tacloban terminal which faces the Pacific ocean.

John Andrews, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, said the Tacloban airport is "completely ruined" and may need extensive repairs for several days to be usable again as commercial flight to the City remains suspended.
