Q400 To Fly With Cambodia Airlines

12 March 2014

Philippine Airlines has transferred to its subsidiary Cambodia Airlines some of its bombardier Q400 planes used by another low cost subsidiary PAL Express for flight operations in Cambodia. Earlier, PAL Express terminated inter-island routes in the southern Philippines to consolidate airline operations. Another set of Airbus A320's from PAL will join the fleet as it begins operation this year. Cambodia airlines is a joint venture between the Royal Group of Cambodia and San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines, one of Asia's largest conglomerate.

  1. in doing so, they have given cebu pacific the advantage in terms of regional operations. they even stop the wide body aircraft, thereby losing the cargoes to cebu pacific who is quick to react to the market

  4. Back up plan...actually i think..
First, if the airline will be succesful..PAL will have 200-300 million dollars a year as part of shares...
Second, i dunno correct me if Im wrong..Is Cambodia under category 1 of US or not?..if it is under Cat2 of US..PAL can finally expand to US under Wet-lease Agreement using flight rights of Cambodia..lets say flight like Cambodia-Manila-US...using B777-300ER of PAL..isnt it profitable?

  6. Cambodia Air can't get off the ground because Cambodia Angkor Air is owned by Vietnam air, the Cambodian government is run by the government of Vietnam and the paperwork to start flying isn't getting signed. Think about this. Sihanoukville, Cambodia is the only city in Southeast Asia that you can walk out the doors of a casino onto a white sand beach, but you can't fly from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville because Vietnam Air wants to funnel tourists to the Vietnam coast (no casino's)
