  7. Source? If these are from PAL or Boeing then it's news. If it's from some enthusiast with photoshop skill then it's not news... nice, but not news.

    1. That PAL plane is a 777-300ER, which they already have.

    2. Look at the engine cuttouts and the curve of the wing. That's a 777-9X.

    3. Nacelle, that's the word I was looking for... and I didn't realize that 77W also had wing flex... oops. So if this is a 77W in the second pic than this post makes even less sense.

  8. The engine nacelles make it clearly a 777-9x.

  9. So if the rumors are true, based on the photo's posted above. 1st pic is the wing of Boeing 777X, 2nd pic is PAL Boeing 777-300ER. I conclude that PAL is getting an additional order of Boeing 777-300ER and will place an order for Boeing 777X.

  10. The orders will likely be a combination of 777-300ER and 777-9x- although the announcements may not happen all at once. The 300ERs are available within 2 years that can used for the USA routes soon while the 9x given the orders and EIS timetable can be delivered after 2021- replacements for 300ERs and long term route expansion of PAL.

  11. Is that a 787 wing?

  12. the author wrongly guessed PAL would announce a Boeing order during the May 12th event. Made a blog entry about it and so to create fuzz and appear like he got a classified leaked information about it. apparently, there's no orders whatsoever.

nice try though. next entry please.

    1. We never guess and we never said an order is forthcoming on May 12. Maybe you should check again what we wrote. There is none.

  13. That's a 787 wing with GE engine, seen also on airliners.net

  14. PAL should buy additional Boeing 777-300ER; buy new aircraft such as Airbus A350-900, Boeing 747-8i, and Boeing 787 Dreamliner; and set aside Boeing 777X. Boeing 777X delivery is on long term.

    1. 747-8i is technically dead. A350 is no match in terms of capacity and range against 777-9x

  15. In one of the recent interviews reported on a local newspaper, RSA has stated that the PAL wide body order could be a combination of Airbus and Boeing. It maybe a combination of A350 and B777-9x- since there's a difference in passenger capacity and range between the 2 models. There maybe additional 777-300ERs to satisfy expansion purposes in the U.S. during the next few years, then the A350s for Europe before the 777-9x examples come in during the early 2020s.

  16. In my own opinion, I believe B787-9 is really perfect for PAL considering that Philippines is not really a high yielding destination unlike Hong Kong and Japan. It is also perfect for daily usage and for European destinations because it has the size and range. I think having 10-12 777 is already enough for the airline.
