PAL Adds Q400NG

Firms Seven Options, Brings Total Order To Twelve

Le Bourget - Philippine Airlines has agreed to buy seven more Bombardier Q400NG aircraft from Canadian plane maker Bombardier, bringing its total order to 12, including the five initially ordered in December 2016.

The option purchase rights was announced Monday at the Paris Air Show, with the deal valued at US$235 million.

The original order for five firm Q400 with purchase rights for an additional seven was previously announced on December 8, 2016 and will start monthly delivery from July next month. Another five delivery will be handed over from March 2018, with the remainder arriving in the latter part of 2019.

    2. I think they will not be used in NAIA. It will be used, for example, in Clark, Cebu, Davao, Kalibo, and many more except NAIA.

    3. It will not be use or stationed in Manila except for several flights like, MNL-tablas, Coron, Busuanga those small airports that can't accomodate A320. However, they will be use for inter-island link like CEB-ILO,cagayan, kalibo. anyhow, these aircRAFTS are replAcement of their aging Q400 fleet.

  2. It's a replacement aircraft for all their current bombadier Q-series fleet. Majority of them will not stationed in Manila International Airport. But I admit they're slot grabbers in other big airports like Cebu and Davao.

  3. Most of the Q400NextGen Ordered will be base in Cebu Airport with some in Manila and Clark. PAL could also use them to start new routes similar to what Cebu Pacific is doing with thier ATR 72-600.

  5. Aside from the 2 B777-300 and 6 A350-900 on order. PAL has still an option to acquired 6 additional A350s which they can use for further expansion either to the US or Europe. also from the Aviation forum I've heard that thier is still 5 A330-300 designated for PAL, despite they announced that they have been converted to additional A321neo. I'm not sure if its true or not or even will PAL take them. but
    IMO I think PAL should just converted them for either A350, A330neo, or the smaller A330-200.

    Problemang parking space, around 100 new planes arriving 2-5 yrs atmost???
