PAL A321Neo Commences 2nd Longest Flight In the World

11 July 2018

PAL has commence A321neo's second longest flight in the world as it fly its second neo aircraft RP-C9932 from Manila to Sydney, equivalent to seven hours and thirty minutes of flight time, or range of 3,400nm.

The aircraft previously flew from Manila to Brisbane on July 2 for its first medium-range flight.

The longest A321 flight in the world was flown by WOW airlines (TF-SKY) for eight hours and forty minutes (8:21) on January 23, 2018 to Los Angeles from Reykjavik, Iceland equivalent to 3,750nm.

Airbus’ prototype A321neo long-range (LR) aircraft has flown 4,109 nm from Seychelles International Airport on Mahe island to Toulouse in France.

The plane manufacturer claims its A321Neos has design range of 4,000 nm. but has flown to 4,750 nm ESAD equivalent, on three center tanks, far above the design range of 4,000 nm. PAL variant has two center tanks on board.

    1. The aircraft in the photo used was old.

This picture is taken when the aircraft was currently being tested and approved by Airbus in Germany (which explains the German flag) before turning it over to PAL. The flag will be erased eventually before it's delivery flight to the Philippines.

  3. Will the up coming Manila-New Delhi flights be the longest? It is approx. 4,755km. Well, way above the stated 4,750km at 3 center fuel tanks. With 168 pax, will PAL cover 4,750km with only 2 extra fuel tanks?

    1. The measuring unit used in the article is nautical miles not kilometers, meaning if manila to new delhi is about 4,755km. Then it will be around 2,567nm. So yes, PAL's A321NEO can do that mission.

    2. Well, I didn't noticed that! Thank you for informing me regarding the units. I did quite messed up.

So, it will not be the longest anyways.

    1. Probably no need since the product is more premium: lie-flat business class seats and IFE on every seat.

    2. That those make a bit of sense Hopeing PAL will consider refurbishing some of there A321ceo operateing international flights with In-seat IFE in both J and Y classes and make tje configuration less dense.

    3. IIRC, the plan is that eventually the A321neos will eventually replace all the A321ceos, which will then be moved to PAL Express.

    4. Yah that what I've heard. However it doesn't seem to make sense as PAL has 24 A321ceo and 21 A321neo (including PAL Express), combined thats a total of 45 aircraft. of which 6 A321neo are going to be used on Medium-haul routes flight lasting 8-9 hours, while the remaining 15 321neo will be ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex), which I suspect will be used in High demand routes liked HKG, SIN,NRT etc. I believe that most if not all of the A321neo will be based at MNL. while some A321ceo operated by PAL Express will be used on domestic routes, the remaining A321ceo with PAL could be based at CEB to operate international flights from there liked NRT, KIX and ICN.

  5. Longest scheduled flight na po ng A321neo ang MNL-SYD...

Yung delivery flights hindi po considered yun, pati yung one-off operation ng WOW Air

Scheduled flights lang po ang considered...

    1. If I re-call the load factor on that WOW Air flight is only 42 passengers and it had a capacity of 200+ passengers not sure if that was true? However that was just a one of and know its back to the A330.

  6. True, kaya PAL A321neo ang magiging record-breaker sa longest scheduled flight...

Recovery flight lng kasi yung sa WOW Air...
    Tapos yung iba endurance tests

MNL-MEL ang papalit kapag nagstart A321neo ops

  7. How many of PAL's A321 Neo will be configured for long haul (168 pax)? Will this be the standard configuration for domestic and international routes? Or will the domestic version have more seats?
