Cebu Pacific subsidiary is re-instating its cancelled flights between Zamboanga and Sandakan beginning January 2019 ahead of PAL Express opening of the route beginning summer of next year.
“The launching of the Zamboanga-Sandakan route is already in the pipeline. We are just waiting for the completion of new customs, immigration, and quarantine facilites in Zamboanga airport,” said Alexander Lao, president and CEO of Cebgo.
Cebu Pacific will use and base one (1) ATR 72-600 aircraft in Zamboanga International Airport to cover these new route. The airline earlier announced 4x a week flight service to this route last year before having it cancelled due to operational requirements.
Also in the planning stage is the opening of another route to Brunei Darussalam and possibly another route to Balikpapan or Manado in Indonesia.
Cebgo currently flies from Zamboanga to Cebu, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro and Tawi-Tawi.
This route is the same as Manado and Davao. Launch then end the run after 1 to 2 months. Watch for it.

DeleteATR flights to Manado, Balikpapan, Ternate, Makassar, Tarakan, Palu, Sorong, Tawau, Sandakan can feed their flights to HongKong, Macau, Taiwan, China, S Korea and Japan.
Sandakan, Tawau and Kota Kinabalu actually has more chance of succeeding judging from the traffic 5J got to and from TWT, the smallest island with 12 times a week A320 jet service. It will soon go down substantially when airlines start flying ZAM direct to Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteZAM-Bandar Seri Begawan(Brunei) is also a good and profitable route as there are tons of Filipinos in Brunei from Mindanao (even the entire country) and they can use the Zamboanga Hub to go to the Philippines. Zamboanga is now considerably connected to all major cities of the Philippines which makes it an ideal hub for connecting passengers coming from Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the ZAM-Tawau route as there are also a considerable number of Filipinos living and working in this city which is very near Tawi-tawi, the southernmost province of the Philippines.
