Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced they will be deferring delivery of thirteen (13) A321-200Neos, particularly with one scheduled for delivery in December 2021, to be delivered in 2024.
The airline said they already announced postponement of delivery schedule of 12 airbus aircraft for delivery last year and this year for 2022.
PAL said Airbus already agreed for the further deferral of its A321neo deliveries for another two years.
To File Prepackaged Chapter 11 Next Week
21 June 2021
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL)’s will finally file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US next week after ironing out final negotiation deals with aircraft lessors.
PAL’s filing have been delayed due to some readjustments with the creditors offer necessitating talks extending bankruptcy protection filing by the end of May to another month.
PAL president and COO Gilbert Santa Maria said the company has been managing liquidity and has returned some aircraft it cannot afford to operate.
The airline also agreed to to raise debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing of $505 million, broken down into $250 million of debt and $255 million of convertible debt.
DIP secured financing during the course of a bankruptcy case is often crucial to the debtor's prospects for either maintaining operations pending the development of a confirmable plan of reorganization or facilitating an orderly liquidation designed to maximize asset values for the benefit of all stakeholders.
In a Chapter 11 case, financing (and/or cash infusions through recapitalization) also is often a key component of the reorganized debtor's ability to operate post-bankruptcy.
An exit financing of about $150 million is also sought by the airline for payment to creditors. The availability of adequate exit financing is often a condition to confirmation of a plan of reorganization. Reorganized debtors use exit financing to pay creditors' claims under the plan and to fund their ongoing operations after bankruptcy.

Antonov Airlines has safely transported five S-70i Black Hawk helicopters on a single AN-124-100 flight from Rzeszów, Poland, to Angeles, the Philippines.
The cargo weighed 35 tonnes in total, including loading equipment, and is the second delivery of the Polish-built S-70i Black Hawk helicopters to the Philippines.
The loading procedure was completed using the AN-124-100’s winches.
Each S-70i helicopter measured 1.75 m long, 3.2 m wide, 3.9 m in height, and weighed 5.6 tons.
Detailed loading and unloading plans were developed by Antonov Airlines’ in-house engineers to ensure the safe stowage and transport of the military cargo within the AN-124-100’s cargo cabin specifications.
“Although the total payload in terms of weight was quite light for our aircraft – loading five helicopters safely and transporting them without damage takes considerable collaboration. We have been working closely with Sikorsky as well as their logistics supplier Helicopter International Shipping Services (HISS) for several months to ensure that all current and future program requirements are met,” said Amnon Ehrlich, Director North America – Aerospace, Government, and Defence Programs.
The first transport under the agreement was completed in November 2020 and was also for five S-70i Black Hawk helicopters, which were delivered to Clark Air Base, north of the Philippine capital, Manila.
