April 7, 2009

Manila - Low cost airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) will offer a new direct flight from Cebu to Roxas City starting May 2, 2009 and Cagayan de Oro-Davao flight starting May 14, 2009 using ATR 72-500 aircraft.

The thrice-weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) service departs from Cebu at 5:20am and arrives in Roxas at 6:10am. The return flight leaves Roxas at 6:30am and lands in Mactan Cebu International Airport at 7:20am.

On Cagayan-Davao flights, the re-introduced flight departs from Cagayan de Oro every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 6:00pm and arrives in Davao at 6:50pm. The return flight leaves at 7:10pm and lands in Cagayan de Oro at 8:00pm. It will have onward connections to Cebu.

“The opening of Cebu Pacific Airline’s Roxas City-Cebu City route will not only mean convenience for the commuting public but will open new opportunities as well as expand existing socio-economic and cultural ties that will redound to the mutual benefits of the people of the two provinces, Cebu and Capiz. We are indeed truly grateful for this and we assure Cebu Pacific that we will play our role the best we can in promoting its noble mission,” said Hon. Governor Victor Tanco, Province of Capiz.

“Our Cebu-Roxas service will increase the accessibility of Roxas to its neighboring provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Local residents from Roxas can also enjoy the wide connectivity of flights we offer from our Cebu hub to other domestic and international destinations,” Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and distribution said. The airline also flies a daily service to Manila and is the first and only airline operating a direct service between Cebu and Roxas.

Candice Iyog also explained that “The opening of our direct Davao-Cagayan de Oro service will provide a faster, more convenient and affordable travel option for travelers between Northern and Southern Mindanao. This will spur more activities within Mindanao as travel from Davao to Cagayan de Oro is cut to an hour from a usual 10-hour road trip,”

Meanwhile, the airline will also add a Sunday frequency to its current thrice-weekly Cebu-Dumaguete service starting April 13, 2009. Cebu Pacific operates more than five hundred flights weekly from its Cebu hub to 20 domestic and four international destinations.

Now on its 14th year, CEB continues to have the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines, comprised of 11 Airbus A320, 10 Airbus A319, and eight ATR 72-500.
