Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is terminating triangular service and will fly instead direct flights to Kuwait beginning March 26, 2017 every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday after traffic negotiations with Kuwaiti authorities for fifth freedom traffic rights between Dubai and Kuwait ended up on a negative note.
Accordingly, fifth freedom traffic rights between Bangkok and Manila granted by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to Kuwaiti Airways is likewise terminated.
Meanwhile, flights to Dubai (PR658/PR659) will grow daily leaving at 10:40 p.m.

I wonder if this has something to do with the execution of the OFW in Kuwait. But even that's not the reason, there have been disagreements between Philippines and Kuwait regarding air traffic rights as this is a lucrative route, so PAL ended up codesharing the twice weekly nonstop flights with Kuwait Airways. On one hand, this is a good move for PAL because the traffic between DXB and KWI is considerably high and is still growing. But Kuwait Airways may soon be forced to step up the competition by sending their brand new 777-300ER with the latest products.
ReplyDeleteYou're late in latest news!
ReplyDeleteSeveral Chinese airlines plan to start Cebu flights such as Air China, Sichuan Airlines, and West Air; as well as expansion of Xiamen Air by adding new origins. Thai Smile, an airline owned by THAI, recently announced to start the flights to Cebu.
Everytime I visit this website, it keeps on showing this old latest news.
We did report some with confirmed regulatory approvals if you care to look at our old posts, but excluded charters other than to countries with no airline connection, i.e. Russia. Kalibo also had Hong Kong Express which Cebu doesn't have but they are sidelined for the same reason.
DeleteBy the way, Thai Smile never went through so why report something not coming?
I recently just check routesonline.com and sure enough Thai Smile removed cebu from its scheduled I'm not sure why but hopefully some explanation will come.
