State airline Qatar Airways will introduce flights to Davao four times a week by summer schedule next year as they secure four more rights to fly Manila airport in an air services negotiation that was concluded Wednesday.
The new route will be flown by Boeing 787-800 plane from Doha.
The new air services agreement (ASA) amends the 2015 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on air services between Manila and Doha granting Qatar Airways 14 flights to Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport with the condition to fly Clark or Cebu.
Qatar fulfilled the 2015 MOU that granted them seven more slots at NAIA by flying initially to Cebu before transferring flight to Clark and now being flown daily on a Boeing 787-800.
The MOU which includes as a condition for Qatar Airways to have flights from Davao within one year from the commencement of the four additional flights to Manila set for introduction by October this year, was signed by DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo and Abdullah Al Subaey of Qatar.

Well that is great news especially since Davao has been known as the main gateway to mindanao mean we don't have to travel to manila to catch flights to the middle east and europe any more aside from Davao hope QR resmue its flights to Cebu after they discontinued back in 2012 maybe they will announced it with davao as thier next destination in the Philippines also hopeing QR deployed thier Airbus A350 in the Philippines in the future
ReplyDeletei think it would be also okay to have a triangular flight eg doha-davao-cebu-doha for one day and doha-cebu-davao-doha for the next.
ReplyDeleteI think its possible since the Goverment didn't specifcly said it should be non-stop but I think its better to whait and see !
DeleteCathay Pacific should open a flight to Davao.
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteI dought that Cathay Pacific will fly to Davao probably Cathay Dragon is more likely to fly to DVO !
DeleteNice, but Filipinos preferred Cathay Pacific to have commonality with Manila & Cebu.
DeleteI thinks its better to whait until Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon will formally announced if they are going to lunched flight between HKG and DVO. but my opinion will be that Cathay Pacific will market the flight while Cathay Dragon will operate the flights similar to what PAL and PAL Express are doing on domestic flights! ;)
DeleteInteresting. And because of growing of airline capacity of Davao International Airport, this airport should be expanded like expansion of passenger terminal, installing of cargo terminal, and installing of taxiway parallel to runway. Many foreign airlines plan to fly to Davao such as Emirates, ANA, and many more.
ReplyDeleteThis will definitely boost more tourist to visit davao.. pray for the success of this new development.
ReplyDeleteThis Just Came Today ! Saudi Arabia, Baharian, UAE, Yemen, Libya, Egypt and Maldives just cut diplomatic ties with Qatar aside from a diplomatic stand point they also close thier transportation ties with Qatar also EK and EY will suspend flights between AUX or DXB to DOH also Aircraft registired in Qatar are not allowed to flight to the airspace of the said countries ! This will surelly effect Qatar Airways Operation !
ReplyDeleteI Dont't support this Terrorist Airlines!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good news much appreciated to Qatar Airways
