The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has increased the passenger capacity at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from 1,500 a day to 2,000 passengers per day after securing clearance from the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) against Covid19.
“Please be advised international inbound arrivals at NAIA shall be limited to a maximum of 2,000 passengers per day for the month of May 2021,” the CAB advisory said.
CAB imposed restrictions on passenger arrival of 1,500 in March this year after health authorities registered spike in covid19 infections from arriving international passengers which resulted to filling up of quarantine facilities.
Local
and foreign airlines were forced to cancel a number of international flights and reduce capacity to and
from Manila.
Meanwhile, Mactan Cebu and Clark Airports will stay as is at 1,500 international passengers allowed per day.
The passenger allowance outside Manila prompted Emirates, Qatar and Saudia Airlines to launch cover-up flights to Clark and Cebu after one third of its allowed flights were trimmed by CAB because of flight restrictions.
