Boeing Offers New Generation Triple Seven for PH Government

New York- Aerospace giant Boeing has meet with the President of the Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. relative to its acquisition of a long haul jet.

According to Palace Officials, Boeing offered to the Philippine government the brand new Boeing 777-8X powered by GE9x engine, with a price tag of $410 million, (22.6 billion) at listed price in 2022 for its long haul travel needs.

Boeing said the aircraft has a range of up to 8,730 nmi (16,170 km) with 310 passengers. It is capable to fly to all continents, except South America.

No further details is provided.

  1. I wonder if really required by the gov't. Perhaps a less costly option would make better sense like the B737 BBJ?

    2. I'd think 12 hour flights would be ok but perhaps USA mainland to Philippines may be an issue due to strong headwinds

  2. There was a plan in 2018 to buy a government aircraft to be let to PR for most of the days, which it can use for required foreign travel when needed. Government lender Landbank would own the aircraft as lessor. They have another plane on thought. Government would actually earn not only rental but taxes for the use of this plane. Unlike foreign lessors where bulk of revenues goes out of the country, dollar earnings on this one does not go out. And then covid and C11 came. So I think they are pushing this through.
