28 November 2024

Megawide Construction Corporation has been awarded the contract to design and build a new passenger terminal building (PTB) at Boracay Airport, the main gateway to Boracay Island.

Airport constructions begins December this year.

The airport concession contract is currently under the operations of Trans Aire Development Holdings Corp. (TADHC), a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Infrastructure.

Megawide Construction Corp. was previously involved in the development and construction of Mactan Cebu and Clark airport passenger terminals (PTB). Groundbreaking is eyed by December 2024 or before the year ends.

"This will be another exciting opportunity for Megawide—to be able to work with one of the country's largest and oldest conglomerates, San Miguel Corporation (SMC), and help realize its vision of a world-class facility at Caticlan Airport," Megawide chief executive officer Edgar Saavedra said.

“We are building a passenger terminal with capacity of 7 million passengers per annum. It will have eight passenger boarding bridges para naman maginhawa ‘yung tao,” said SMC President and Chief Executive Officer Ramon Ang.

According to Ang, the new passenger terminal building should be finished in 2028.
