Kalibo- Philippine Airlines officially re-joined the bandwagon of international airlines operating at Kalibo International Airport as it re-started charter service to Hangzhou originally launched in October 28, 2008.
The flight PR347 departed from Kalibo on July 27 to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport an will fly every Monday and Friday using Airbus A320-200 type aircraft.
Xiaoshan International Airport is the fifth-largest airport in China, with 22 international flight routes transporting 2.2 million passengers in 2008. The airport also has 159 domestic route connections.
Percy Malonesio, Kalibo airport manager said that China Eastern will also commence service from Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou province in China to Kalibo before the end of the year while Hangzhou Comfort Air Services Company Limited will provide a special charter flight from Hangzhou to Kalibo, this October. Shanghai Airlines started a twice-a-week charter flight between Shanghai and Kalibo on July 26.
Meanwhile, other flights is scheduled on the Kaohsiung-Cebu route via charter flight on China Airlines for five days a week beginning July 13. Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan. China Southern Airlines have mounted a twice-weekly charter flights between Guangzhou and Cebu on July 19.
Other international operators at KIA includes Mandarin Airlines and China Airlines which has regular scheduled flights to Taipei and Kaohsiung, while Zest Airways operate charters to Seoul, South Korea.
Kalibo is the international gateway to world famous Boracay Island resorts.
