PAF C130 Overruns Ormoc Runway

13 November 2013

Ormoc City got the first taste of relief goods courtesy of a Philippine Air Force C-130 plane (3633) that landed this morning but the second flight also loaded with relief supplies overshots its runway this afternoon.

No one was reported hurt. It was towed back to runway by three 6x6 trucks as PAF evaluates any damage to the cargo plane.

Initial investigations discloses that the cargo plane which was loaded with relief supplies was too heavy to land at the 1,400 meter airstrip causing it to run further beyond the paved runway.

There are only three operational C-130 planes of the PAF inventory, the other being serial numbers 4704 and 4726 that is used for the country's biggest relief operation.
