  1. Reconfigure also the remaining 7 Airbus A330-300 seats to make PAL's Middle East product better. Change the seats of economy class into 8 abreast (2-4-2) and put in-flight entertainment system in all classes. It is up to PAL if they will change the business class seats into 1-2-1 or will remain into 2-2-2, but business class seats should be change also.

    1. The plan was to convert the last 7 Airbus A330-300, PAL should do this. It is a superior product which passengers appreciate and increase passenger loads.

  2. True, they need to reconfigure the remaining A330-300 to tri class. Daming nag reklamo walang ife system yung middle east flight.Marami ako naka usap na pax na galing Middle East mas gus2 nila sumakay sa foreign airline dahil hindi cla na bored sa flyt dahil my iFe. Yung AUH at DOH mababa yung load factor.

  3. unforetunately, if im not mistaken. the flights to AUH and DOH were under PAL EXPRESS.. anu ba yung code doon..PR or 2P.. kasi kng 2P yung pangit na configuration ng A330 dapat ang i-deploy.. unless it is being codeshared sa PAL na PR yung code. kapag 2P/PR yung code..abay dapat lng na i-improve nila yung aircraft doon..

    1. Until early 2015, ME flights are under 2P. As part of restructuring after PAL bought back shares from SMC, ME flights are now under PAL since then.

  4. Lahat ng MiddleEast flight under ng PR. Yung sa 2P flights mostly regional flights ex. Klo-Chengdu, Mnl-Hainan, Klo- Nanjing, Klo-Hangzhou ..

  6. They have two options at least, they can reconfigure the remaining 7 high density A330s, but this will be huge investment and there is no assurance they can compete with Big 3 ME carriers. Or they retain the configuration and try a 'hybrid model' in selling the seats, just like what SMC did, at least for ME flights. They'll sell them at cheaper prices compared to the Big 3 ME carriers, and at par with 5J. This way they can be more competitive in pricing but at the same time, have better service than 5J by providing hot meals for all and iPad entertainment at least for business and premium economy. It also makes sense they transfer the 7 high density A330s to PALEX for lower cost operations. I used to handle PR658 and PR668 to KWI and JED via DXB and now they're cut off and PR658 now only terminates at DXB, and now PR656 will also be terminated.

    1. What if they reconfigure a few more of the A330s, like 2 to 3 more? Would that be a huge investment?

  7. So they're bringing back the Kalibo-Korea charter flights? Or will this transfer now be a regular flight? It seems the transfer is not related to the opening of the new TAG airport. PR used to offer two Korea charter flights: PR486 (MNL-KLO-ICN-KLO-MNL) and PR488 (MNL-KLO-ICN-KLO-PUS-KLO-ICN-KLO-MNL) but flights to and from MNL are only ferry flights.

  8. PAL is not a budget airline, they are a 4-Star airline who is going for a 5-star rating. They cannot achieve this with those 7 Airbus A330-300; they shoul standardize on the tri-class configuration. All of SMC's cabin configurations (363 and 414 seat A330, and 199 seat A321) were for a budget airline model

    1. That’s great news. What was the source for this? Did they say when exactly they will reconfigure them? And what about the older A321s?

  11. I hope the 7 remaining A330s will be configured with more business class seats. Or they could be configured with no premium economy. CX only has one flight to ME that is HKG-DXB-BAH and they deploy their longhaul A330 with no PEY. And they already have stiff competition in that region. It will be a challenge for PAL to recover their investment from this 7 A330s to be reconfigured and how to compete with ME carriers. Or better yet, they might leave ME gradually and deploy these A330s to further expand in Asia Pacific and Australia. I noticed that these 7 high-density A330s are now occassionally deployed to Asia Pacific since theyre already freed up after scaling down their ME operations. For the A321s, I heard the original plan was the A321s to be transferred to 2P and serve domestic routes exclusively once all A321Ns are delivered.
