Sangley Airport Opens Tomorrow

The new Sangley Airport Passenger Terminal Building in Cavite is ready to accept passengers beginning Oct. 29, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced Monday.

DOTr said the airport construction was completed Sunday and is now 100 percent complete.

Completed works include asphalt overlay of runway and runway markings, Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) and meteorological facilities installations, clearing of end of the runway, concrete pavement reblocking, installation of two pumps including the drainage system, passenger terminal building and ramp construction, ramp markings, landscaping and streetlight installations.

Also completed were the construction of access road, installation of Flight Information System (FIS), CCTV surveillance system, counter, weighing conveyor, installation of ARFF with two modern fire trucks from Sides France.

The DOTr also disclosed that the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has already positioned a pontoon boat in the pier staging area, while a temporary shelter was completed on October 27.

A planned ferry service to Manila via the Mall of Asia in Pasay is intended to be made available for passengers.

  2. Is NAIA going to handle the Air Traffic Control duties? Or the current air traffic facility at Sangley?

    1. Sangley for ground, Manila for approach. They will have dependent approach procedure.
