PAL Connects Borongan to Manila and Cebu

PAL Re-Links Borongan to Rest of the Philippines

20 December 2022

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has introduced another island hopping route, reminiscent of the early years of the airline, as it launches flight from Manila to Borongan via Mactan on 86 seater DHC9-400NG aircraft.

PR 2651 will fly twice a week from Manila every Monday and Friday leaving at 8:55am, arriving Cebu at 10:20am, and thereafter arriving Borongan airport at 12 noon.

PR2652 will depart Borongan at 12:30pm arriving Cebu at 1:30pm and Manila at 4:50pm. Manila-Cebu leg will be service by Airbus A320 aircraft.

The airline offers multiple connections from Cebu to Manila, and other major cities in the Philippines.

Previously, travelers to the capital of Eastern Samar province have to land at Tacloban Airport and take a five- to a six-hour land trip to reach Borongan City. The other option is to travel by land from Manila, which takes about two days.

The airline was the first commercial airline to launch a regular flight to Borongan after the local airport’s completion in March 2013.  However flights was suspended 8 months later due to damages of airport infrastructure caused by typhoon Yolanda on November 2013.

Initial talks for the reopening of the flight started in July 2022 culminating with Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda and PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley Ng signing a memorandum of agreement to restart flight operations.

  1. This is truly exciting news! Fliers of the pal airlines must be rejoicing the addition of new routes that save their travel time. People need convenient travel options that save them time, energy and effort. It is nice that the airline companies are taking this factor into account and doing the needful.
