Mactan Named Best Airport In Its Category

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) was named Best Airport in Asia-Pacific for the 5–15 Million Passengers Per Annum Category for 2024 at the Airports Council International (ACI) World Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards held in Guangzhou, China, on Sept. 8–11, 2025.

MCIA general manager and chief executive officer Julius Neri Jr. and Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corp. (Acac) head of Reputation and Customer Experience Ricia Montejo accepted the award on behalf of the airport. 

Neri credited the achievement to the collaboration of MCIA frontliners, concessionaires, airline partners and stakeholders.

MCIA handled 11.3 million passengers in 2024, a 13 percent increase from the previous year. It was also ranked the 7th Most Improved Airport at the 2025 Skytrax Awards.

Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), also operates Laguindingan and Bohol-Panglao airports.

Vietjet Opens MNL

Vietnam Low Cost Carrier Vietjet Air (VJC) will extend its doors to Manila connecting it to Ho Chi Minh beginning 22 November 2025.

The route will be flown 5 times a week with Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The schedule are as follows:

VJ858 SGN2305 – 0250+1MNL 321 x25
VJ859 MNL0345 – 0530SGN 321 x36 

AirAsia boosts Cebu hub

Reopens 5 Routes

Low cost carrier AIRASIA Philippines (APG) is strengthening its Cebu hub as it reopens three domestic and two international routes starting Nov. 15, 2025.

The carrier will resume flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Iloilo, Caticlan and Davao, as well as to Kuala Lumpur and Macau, using its Airbus A320 fleet. Ticket sales open on Sept. 3 via the Move app and airasia.com.

AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Suresh Bangah said it is reactivating another aircraft to support its Cebu expansion plans.

The airline operates a fleet of 15 Airbus A320 aircraft with the aim of operating 21 aircraft at the end of this year.
