PR's London Flight Moved to December

8 August 2013

Philippine Airlines flight to London Gatwick has been moved to December 2013 due to some delays in regulatory approvals.

The daily flight to London Gatwick will be handled by Airbus 340-300.

Ismael Augusto Gozon, PAL senior vice-president for operations said Thursday they can manage to launch only two destinations in Europe before the end of the year.

  1. What about Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome?

  2. Dapat Heathrow para challenging ang landing, JOKE (If you see Heathrow Airport using flightradar24.com, there are many planes turning around before lining up for landing).

    1. Correct, but PR will fly to Gatwick - not Heathrow.
But LGW has only a single runway and is congested also ...

    2. Gatwick Airport has 2 runways, 8R/26L and 8L/26R. But 8L/26R often serves as taxiway.

    3. You´re right but both runways are too close to each other to be operated simultanously.
So, that´s why I counted them as one ...

  3. To be fair, unlike FCO, CDG and AMS, there was nothing indicative yet about LON from regulators.

    1. What's wrong with aging? Tumatanda naman tayo lahat.

    2. There's nothing wrong with aging. And there is also nothing wrong with younger flight attendants too. Let us be honest. A 28-38 yrs old flight attendant would normally react much faster compared to a 40-50 year old FA/FS. I do not mean to disrespect (like the idiot who posted dinosaurs) but, in reality, most of the older FA. Pasalamat nga sila hindi kasama sa recurrent tumalon ng slide raft..

Kung maisip ng CAAP na kailangan nila tumalon every year or 2 sa slide raft, then trust me, you would see a lot of this OLD FA/FS retiring.

Just Imagine. jumping on a slide raft is required for the new FA.. Pero bakit hindi kasama sa recurrent?

  6. Aging flight attendants ang stewards of PAL is better than young cabin of any other local airlines. Be safe than pretty and young faces.

  7. yes be very safe, as they cannot even carry a 7kg trolley bag to the overheadbin ??? i know, they cant even place my mom's luggage on the overhead compartment and even asked my older brother to do it...

and after us, another old lady asked the old fa to put the bags to the overhead bin since she cant reach it and alas, he has to ask his younger steward to do it for her...

how would you think she would handle an emergency ???

    1. Flight Attendant Union and FAA Partner On Passenger Safety

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International President Veda Shook and FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt kicked off the summer travel season today with some helpful tips to educate passengers on how to make air travel as safe as possible.

“As first responders in the cabin, a Flight Attendant’s foremost responsibility is to help protect the safety and security of our passengers. Through comprehensive training and extensive experience, Flight Attendants are well equipped to ensure passengers arrive at their destination safely and securely,” said Shook.

AFA and the FAA issued some helpful guidelines for passengers to keep in mind when flying:

Listen to the Flight Attendants – Pay attention to all crew instructions as well as the safety briefing.

Buckle Up - Passengers should wear their seat belts during the entire flight — even if the seat belt sign is off.

Follow instructions regarding Personal Electronic Devices - If an emergency incident were to occur during a critical portion of your flight, Portable Electronic Devices could fly around the cabin if not properly stowed, distract passengers from hearing Flight Attendant instructions, or generate electronic signals that interfere with critical aircraft instruments.

Limit Carry-on Bags - Thousands of injuries linked to carry-on baggage occur each year. Bring only your valuables on board, such as cameras, medication and jewelry, and check the rest of your luggage.

Put Your Child Under Two in a Certified Child Restraint Seat - This is the safest way for children under two to fly. Aviation experts agree that holding a child on a parent’s lap is unsafe, and the practice has led to needless injuries and deaths in turbulence and crashes because the children were not restrained in safety seats.

“We’re calling on passengers to take an active role in aviation safety,” said Administrator Babbitt. “We are committed to safety and we are asking every passenger to take just a few minutes to follow our safety tips and, most importantly, pay attention to your flight and cabin crews.”

For over 65 years, the Association of Flight Attendants has been the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill. Nearly 50,000 Flight Attendants at 21 airlines come together to form AFA, the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. AFA is part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org

  9. am also thinking if they can do that thing with the slide raft where in you have to get in using the side ropes... I doubt they can still do that.

Buti na lang pag nagrerequest ang CAAP ang airlines ang namimili kung sino ang gagawa. (although kadikit kasi ng mga oldies yung mga nasa CAAP kaya ganun)

Pero kung mag-rarandom ang CAAP kung sino ang gagawa let say (50% purser , 30% 3-5yrs exp and 20% new hires) for sure PAL would have a problem. At Malamang pati FASAP.

  10. The problem is, most young Cabin Crew cant accept the fact that we are different in PAL. They would always say we are dinosaurs. But they are more similar to the dinosaurs since they have little brain.

Even people from PAL Express think they are the same with us just because of the uniform.

Isa lang ang masasabi ko. Theres a reason why our crew meals are hot and are real meals, compared to your so-called crew meal na BULALO FLAVORED NOODLES.

    Pathetic

    1. Why so bitter about pal express? You talk like you have the biggest brain huh! If you have problems with that, then address it directly to RSA. But if you are still bitter about it, you could always start your new airliner and bring your dinosaur attitude there.

    2. why fight over it? i think the reason why older FAs are serving international routes its because they are more experienced compared the younger ones.

it also applies with the pilots i think

    3. Dont act all high and mighty because you are with a legacy airline! you were a sinking ship a year ago and you only started reemerging because Of a company who bought you. You always think of it as a competition when in fact it is just a job. Different companies but the same job description. Your ads show friendly and humble fas but some of the fas heads grow bigger with their seniority. Stop the hating!

  11. Seriously you people are complaining about the age of Flight Attendants. Its not about the age its about the experience and safeness they can bring. Its not about their appearance. What kind of an airline that would that be. For those who care about age, hope your in an airline that doesnt care about safeness at all and only cares about prettiness. Ill laugh at all of you that panic and dont know what to do.
