The Philippines Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila managed to attract more passengers as it recorded a rise of 3.1 percent last year making it the 44th busiest airport in the world.
Data from Airport Council International (ACI) and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) showed the number of domestic and international passengers reached 32.865 million in 2013 from 31.877 million in 2012.
The number of arriving and departing domestic passengers at NAIA slipped slightly to 17.689 million from 17.738 million due to several flight cancellations arising from natural and man-made disasters and weather disturbances.
Number of domestic flights also declined 4.1 percent to 149,421 in 2013 from 155,832 in 2012 due to airline merger and consolidation.
International passenger traffic continue to climb at 15.176 million or 7.3 percent higher compared to 14.139 million in 2012. International flights also increased 9.9 percent in 2013 to 87,629 from 79,685.
