  1. They (Philippine Airlines) did the same thing with New York City. So, I guess Paris is the next destination for them.

    6. PR 720/721 is MNL-LHR not MNL-AMS, so outdated info.

  5. I asked them if they were hinting flights to France, they simply said they currently have "no advisory regarding that matter".

    1. They also said that to London and New York. It is the common norm in the industry to avoid funfare prior to official launch. We just happen to break them all here unofficially.

  6. In the industry, this would be considered suicide! In this blog, and for the amateur fanboys, this is an oh la la moment as the French would say!

    1. That was also said about Toronto being suicidal, and the industry fanboys were speaking.

    2. Ummm... no. The cynics were also bloggers. Not one industry person (including CAPA), questioned Toronto because there is actually a market there with its large Filipino population, and somewhat less competition as compared to Paris or other cities in Europe. There is no such thing as an industry fanboy, because fanboys will always support PAL no matter how absurd their plans are. Industry people are impartial, and more educated than the average PAL fanboy.

    3. Since you are engaging the word "industry" then you must know what you are talking about, yet, engage airline's decision as wrong? And then rubbed it off to typical "fanboy" partiality. Its typical arm-chair CEO thinking, and since you are doing that you join the cynics who like the rest of the guys here dreamed of becoming "real" CEO themselves and aspire what could have been. Perhaps you failed to see other north asian airlines also flying to Toronto and stopping in between to Manila.

Our disclaimers are pretty clear. We don't promote airlines. We just talk what is there to see, even if they are still not reported to the press. You can see our post and compare. We may even have better decision than what PAL management have but does it even matter? Seriously, no post here does. Not even yours. We however value your time being here, and the insights you provide.

    4. Before having a hissy fit about YYZ, I think you should reread my post. I didn't say there were no other north Asian airlines there, I said that PAL would face LESS competition. Why? Because there are a grand total of two (KE & CX) that offer convenient connections to Manila. In Paris, they will have to compete with CX, SQ, TG, MH, AF (interline via HKG, BKK or SIN), TK (from March 2015), QR, EK, EY, GF, and a bunch of Chinese carriers. And mind you Paris is a much smaller market compared to Toronto.

And no, it's not your blog that I have issues with, but rather the little ones making replies congratulating PAL yadda yadda yadda without looking at the market dynamics. These are the people who would yell "Hallelujah" if PAL said they would like to serve Timbuktu, and the succeeding replies would be to order the A380 en masse!

    5. Come think of it, PAL serving Paris would be an accomplishment.
