Terminal 2 Upgrade Completes In 2020

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) disclosed on Monday that the rehabilitation and upgrading of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 will be completed on the first quarter of 2020.

The 601 million pesos rehabilitation and upgrading project started in October 2018 and will take 1 and half year to finish.

"Construction will be completed by March 2020." MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said.

Once completed, Terminal 2 will be converted back to domestic terminal for both Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, while PAL international operations will operate exclusively at Terminal 1. International airlines operating at Terminal 1 will also complete relocation to vacated Terminal 3 which will revert back to purely international terminal.

Monreal said departure check-in hall and the arrival baggage areas are to be expanded as it removes immigration facility at the north wing.

MAIA said the project involves architectural face lifting, replacement of damaged floors, roofs, and restoration of 32 sets of skylight roofing, and chemical cleaning of stained floor finishes in the arrival and departure areas.

The aerobridge areas and elevated roadway will also be upgraded to accommodate higher volume of domestic traffic, Monreal added.

A people mover is also in the pipeline for construction linking Terminal 1,2,3 and 4. to benefit transfer passengers.

  1. I have a question, sorry for not being related to this article. Is it true that Philippine Airlines utilizes Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 for its non-stop Manila-Brisbane flights? Based on flightradar24 as of February 19, 2019, 11:30AM PST, Philippine Airlines' Manila-Brisbane flights uses Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 in non-stop basis. The aircraft registration (RP-C5909) is also specified. I don't think Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 can handle much longer flights unless with technical stopover.

  2. This A321neo RP-C9935 is using the same transponder code as the Dash 8, Philippine Airlines is currently using the same hex address for two aircraft.

  4. That “people mover” proposal is basically a stop to the development of bulacan airport. Kaloka tong consortium na yan. Govt should be very careful in all its technical aspect. Baka mabudol. Government gurantee is what they want. Instead they are using other terms to describe it pra daw sa bankability ng project. If they wNt to improve NAIA, my first question where are they going to build the other runway? Multinational Village!

  5. Wonder if PAL is going to be moving more international flights to Terminal 1 if they get the new business lounge built at terminal 1.. The current lounge is very crowded at 7 to 8 pm.

  6. Malapit na matapos yung mabuhay Lounge sa T1.. Malaki yung mabuhay Lounge my mga room na tulugan at shower room..

    1. Yung upcoming Mabuhay lounge sa T2 mukang di na matutuloy. As of December 2017 ginagawa siya pero ngayon wala nang balita. Maganda din sana design nun si Grit Design Studio ang nagdesign just like the new Mabuhay lounge at CEB T2. Kasi magiging domestic terminal na si MNL T2.
